Forest School Educator- Part-Time

Are you passionate about nature, child-led learning, and spending your days outdoors in all seasons? We’re looking for a dedicated, playful, and grounded educator to join our forest school community.

About Us
Grateful Gatherings is a nature-based early childhood program rooted in connection, curiosity, and respect—for children, community, and the natural world. Our days are spent exploring local wild spaces, engaging in hands-on skill-building, and fostering social-emotional growth through play and meaningful experiences.

The Role
As a Forest School Educator, you’ll guide a small group of children (ages 3-6) through outdoor, play-based learning. You’ll support their exploration, model care for the land, and help create a safe, nurturing environment where children can take appropriate risks and build confidence.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate daily outdoor sessions in all weather
• Support child-led play, projects, and seasonal rhythms
• Ensure safety while allowing for healthy risk-taking
• Communicate clearly with co-teachers and families
• Participate in team meetings and reflection

Qualifications

• Experience working with children (early childhood preferred)
• Comfort being outdoors for extended periods year-round
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Alignment with nature-based / play-based philosophies
• CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain)

Bonus If You Have

• Forest School training or similar background
• Skills like whittling, natural crafts, tracking, or storytelling
• Knowledge of local ecology
• Experience with mixed-age groups

Compensation & Schedule

• $18+ an hour depending on experience
• Monday- Friday 8:30-12:30
