Presales Forester, Natural Resource Specialist 3 (NRS3)
Full-time, Non-permanent, Represented position (WPEA)

Salary: $5,366.00 - $7,213.00 Monthly
The salary range listed includes a general wage increase of 2% for all state employees effective 7/1/2026.
An additional 5% King County duty station pay has also been added to the base salary listed on this announcement.

Responsibilities:
This position serves as the South Puget Sound region expert for the State Lands timber sales program regarding presales process, procedures, and standards. 

• Schedule, coordinate, and guide field foresters in preparing timber sale packets and in understanding applicable policies, procedures, and processes.
• Review all direct, region, and board timber sale packets. Coordinate with specialists, district staff, divisions, and other program staff to resolve issues or conflicts with procedures.
• Process timber sale SEPAs, FPAs, and provide Products Sales and Leasing Division information for BNR review and advertisement.
• Calculate timber sale trusts for revenue distribution•Supervise, provide direction to two Contract Specialists to ensure work is performed within agency standards and timber sale timelines are met. 
• Assist with conducting timber sale auctions for the region.

Required Qualifications: 
You must meet all the Required Qualifications and Competencies to be considered for this position. • Bachelor’s degree in forestry or a closely related Natural Resource field AND at least two (2) years of professional experience in a natural resource position;
  OR, a combination of equivalent education and/or experience.
• Two (2) years of relevant professional experience in timber sales.
• Experience utilizing computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and Adobe, in a professional environment.
• Experience with editing maps in GIS ArcPro.

• Knowledge of Forest Practices and SEPA policies and processes.
• Accustomed to reading, writing, and interpreting contract language.
