Arrowwood Consulting LLC is consulting forestry firm dedicated to the long-term stewardship of Kentucky’s forests. Based near Danville, Kentucky, our work includes multi-objective timber stand improvement, native plant community restoration, and providing technical assistance to forest landowners.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Day-to-day work will vary by project demand and season.
Hardwood Silviculture- Timber Stand Improvement
- Identify eastern U.S. tree and shrub species using botanical traits and silvics
- Recognize exotic and invasive plant species
- Execute shelterwood, group selection, and other management systems
- Conduct crop tree selection, thinning, and release treatments via herbicide injection, basal bark spraying, and mechanical methods
Timber Cruising and Forest Inventories
- Navigate remote terrain using digital maps and GPS across varying topography
- Locate and traverse property boundaries, management units, and inventory plots with efficiency
- Collect forest inventory data and generate reports
- Assist landowners with interpreting reports and demonstrate management techniques
Invasive Plant Removal
- Mechanical and chemical control of exotic, invasive plants as needed
- Be the first line of defense for Kentucky’s forest ecosystems

Basic Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old and able to legally work in the U.S.
- Possesses Bachelor’s degree program in Forestry, Natural Resources, Wildlife Management, or a closely related field preferred
- Willing to travel several hours by vehicle and spend 4-5 days away from home at a time
- Physical ability to work full days on foot in variable terrain and weather conditions and lift up to 45 pounds.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to project sites
Nice to Have (But Not Required)

- KY Pesticide Applicator License
- Chainsaw operation experience
- Some exposure to GIS concepts (ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar)
