This position is located in the Bureau of Land Management in Northwest Oregon District Office and the Medford District Office.

The incumbent will preform and evaluate a wide range of timber sales support activities. The forestry technician assists with the tree planting contract administration, delineation and traversing of sale boundaries, collects forest inventory data from timber cruises, marks or designates timbers to be removed in timber sales or for use in disposals. The incumbent also prepares RMP documents and other planning and environmental clearance documents, collects information and prepares necessary reports on trespass cases, road layouts, plans for slash disposal and performs emergency fire suppression duties. 

Physical Demands: The work ranges from sedentary when completing duties in the office to frequent field work requiring a considerable amount of walking, climbing, stooping, bending and lifting. 

Work Environment:  Office work is performed in adequately lighted, heated, and air conditioned offices. Much of the time is spent in the field where exposure to extremes of heat and cold, rough and slippery terrain, wet weather, insects, snakes, deadfalls and other hazards are common. The employee will carefully adhere to all safety procedures to mitigate hazards encountered.
