Field Crew Member – Full-Time Seasonal

Northern Ecological Services is a full-service ecological restoration and land management company based in Esko, MN.

Our work includes project design, consultation, installation, and project maintenance for customers that are a mix of public agencies, businesses, and landowners. Projects range from residential landscapes to large civil landscape projects. Including stream, shoreline and wetland restoration .

Our field crew works in:

• Prairie restoration and pollinator habitat creation
• Wetland installation and management
• Seeding and erosion control
• Tree and shrub planting
• Invasive species management
• Woodland restoration and reforestation

Job responsibilities include:

• Soil prep and seeding by hand
• Planting trees and shrubs of all sizes and installing browse protection
• Installing erosion control materials including erosion control blanket, straw mulch, hydromulch, silt fence and bio-logs
• Herbicide mixing and application
• The use of hand tools and small power equipment including chainsaws, brush saws, earth augers, and spray pumps
• Driving company vehicles including UTVs and trucks with trailers

A valid Driver's License is required. The ability to attain industry licenses, paid for by the company, such as Herbicide Applicator's License and MSHA Certification may be required.

Work can involve heavy lifting and working on difficult terrain in and near water. Field work is weather dependent but be aware that we still work outdoors in adverse conditions. The ability to work independently and as a team is important.

We’re looking for self-motivated individuals to join our crew this spring. Typical work hours are 7am-5pm Monday-Friday and vary based on the project and time of year. As a seasonal position, work typically begins around early May and runs into December and possibly later. Overnight travel with paid accommodations and per diem is expected.

Starting hourly wage is $18-$21/hr based on experience. Experience in landscaping, natural resources, or restoration is preferred, but not required.
