The Office of Kentucky Nature Preserves is hiring a GIS specialist. Duties will include designing and maintaining maps, geospatial databases, customized applications for project specific field data collections, performing geospatial data analyses, and ensuring data flow into OKNPs biodiversity databases including Biotics. Other tasks include assisting with the management of natural heritage program data, and handling requests for environmental reviews and natural heritage data, including operations of the Kentucky Biological Assessment Tool (kynaturepreserves.org).

This is a state government merit position with full benefits with a starting salary of $38,000 with a 5% increase after the initial 6 months probationary period.

A candidate with a background in conservation biology or natural resource management would be preferred.  This position will be posted shortly on the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet website, as a Geoprocessing Specialist II with an anticipated starting data of August 1st.
