You will work for a dynamic, geographically-dispersed agency in which you will be responsible for Wildland Fire Geographic Information System (GIS) programmatic oversight which includes:

Developing long range and annual work plans, schedules, cost estimates and proposals and/or grants to justify funding requests and accomplish goals of the Regions and National Park Service Fire Management Program Center.

Providing direct support and advice to GIS and resource management staff in parks, regions, and support offices.

Planning, executing and supervising field work in remote environments to generate new or verify mapped information.

Representing the Regional Fire GIS program when working with others on regional task groups or other organizations concerned with GIS issues.

Providing oversight and implementation in acquiring, organizing, converting, verifying, validating, summarizing, documenting, archiving and populating fire related data into national reporting systems database schema.

Performing one or more cartographic duties such as source assessment, geo-referencing, feature extraction and map production generation.

Operating, maintaining and configuring complex Windows based GIS/GPS computer systems, including computers, printers, scanners, GPS field data loggers and other specialized equipment.
