Oregon Agricultural Trust (OAT) seeks an organized, collaborative, and mission-driven individual with a passion for agricultural land conservation and nonprofit administration to serve as our Grants Manager. Job responsibilities include: managing OAT’s growing portfolio of grants and programs; writing and managing grants for funding opportunities; ensuring compliance with funder requirements and accurate financial reporting; facilitating connections across OAT’s programs and partnerships; and supporting long-range program design and implementation in collaboration with internal teams and external partners.

About Us 

Oregon Agricultural Trust (OAT) is a statewide, 501(c)(3) nonprofit land trust that partners with farmers and ranchers to protect agricultural lands for the benefit of Oregon’s economy, communities, and landscapes. We work collaboratively with regional and statewide partners to permanently protect farm and ranch land in priority geographies within Oregon.

We also partner with regional leaders to:

  • educate farmers, ranchers, service providers, and the public about protecting and passing on agricultural land;
  • increase the capacity of peer organizations to protect agricultural land; and
  • advocate for programs and incentives that support agricultural land protection.

Position Description 

Compensation: $75,000-$78,000 DOE, plus generous benefits

Reports To: Deputy Director

Status: Full-time, Exempt

Location: OAT staff work remotely with periodic in-person meetings around Oregon

Core Accountabilities

The Grants Manager will play a critical role in supporting OAT’s growing programs by ensuring effective management and coordination of private, state, and federal grants, as well as subcontracts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in grant administration, financial reporting, and program management, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

Grant Management

  • Conduct research to identify grant prospects and evaluate their alignment with OAT's programs and goals.
  • Maintain detailed records of funders and grant opportunities.
  • Lead on writing grant proposals and applications.
  • Collaborate with finance staff to maintain accurate financial records, including timely invoicing and completion of progress reports.
  • Track deadlines and deliverables to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
  • Organize and maintain grant and contract files, reporting documentation, and ensure accurate data entry.
  • Monitor compliance with funding agreements, providing administrative support for reporting, invoicing, and documentation to meet funder and partner requirements.
  • Work with the Executive Director and Deputy Director to support greater fund development strategies, as assigned.

Program Coordination

  • Participate in strategic planning and work planning for the organization. 
  • Develop a long-range and annual fundraising plan for the organization with the Deputy Director and in coordination with Program Directors. Track progress towards plan goals.
  • Assist OAT program managers, directors, and partners with project deliverables, timelines, budgets, and expectations.
  • Support external partnerships by coordinating joint applications, program activities, and group communications.
  • Collaborate with program and communications staff to promote the impact of grants received.

Generally

  • Help OAT comply with land protection and stewardship policies and procedures.
  • Work with the Deputy Director to track and report organizational Objectives and Key Results.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in grant writing, grant management, and/or program coordination, preferably in a nonprofit or similar setting.
  • Experience administering or reporting on federal grants and multi-year grants is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and budgeting processes.
  • Experience with program coordination and outcome tracking.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, multitasking, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • A passion for OAT’s mission to protect Oregon’s agricultural lands and support farmers and ranchers.
