 Watershed Progressive (WP) is currently seeking an individual experienced with plant propagation and care to oversee our propagation yard and someone who is willing to assist part time in our retail nursery.  This job is for someone who loves to spend the entire day outdoors.  The idea of thinking and talking about plants all day should be an exciting prospect.  Extensive plant care, propagation and irrigation knowledge and experience required.  The ideal candidate will also be physically able to assist the landscaping crew on projects occasionally (2 to 3 times a month).

WP has a home office is in Groveland, CA near Yosemite, CA and a satellite office in Ojai, CA although projects range throughout Central California from Mono County south to Ventura County.  This position will require daily work to be performed in Groveland, CA. WP maintains a recently refurbished small propagation yard off Ferretti Road and a seasonal retail nursery downtown Groveland.

GENERAL JOB DUTIES:

 Core duties of the position include:

 Propagation

  • Manage activities related to growing hardy landscape plants, including trees, shrubs and perennials.
  • Plant maintenance including planting, pruning, potting, watering, staking, preparing and sticking cutting, seed collecting and processing, weed control.
  • Log activities, maintain propagation records, and compile periodic reports.

 Nursery Assistant

  • Assist with day-to-day care of retail plants and nursery yard maintenance.
  • Advise and assist nursery customers with plant purchases.
  • Advise restocking needs. Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of growing mainly native landscape plants for yard and reforestation projects.
  • Willingness and ability to research and adapt to organic horticultural best management practices.
  • Required to be a productive, self-motivated worker. Capable of fast paced repetitive work.
  • Capable of withstanding high heat conditions.
  • Good agility required and ability to safely lift 50 pounds.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Have passion about making a difference globally and enjoying working on a team that shares your enthusiasm.

  EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Plant Management
  • Some formal horticultural education
  • Retail experience
