This job listing is for 2 Biologist positions within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA).  One is a vegetation position, but the other is a park wide GS 11 Wildlife Biologist.  This job would essentially be a deputy division lead for the wildlife program. Supervision, lead agreements with partners, lead inventory and monitoring work, Alcatraz waterbird lead, funding proposals, data analysis and reporting, review projects, T & E management and recovery actions, and work with researchers. Limited field work - estimated at 1 day/wk. 

Bird work: Alcatraz is a major seabird nesting site, with 8 species of nesting seabird, and 1.5 million visitors a year.  This position would act as the Alcatraz waterbird lead, working on interdisciplinary teams to balance waterbird nesting, visitor access and cultural resource protection, consulting on ongoing and future construction projects on the island, to name a few duties.  Field work may include assisting with monitoring efforts on Alcatraz during the breeding season (Mar-Sept).  

GGNRA also does work with Spotted Owls and Snowy Plovers, in addition to San Francisco Garter Snakes, and Mission Blue Butterflies, as well as other species of interest within the park.

We believe that the Wildlife Biologist position is the position based in San Francisco, but we recommend selecting both locations to be safe.
