Job Title: Habitat Restoration Technician - Crew Member
Location: In person in Milton, Florida. Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred).
Project Duration: May - September 2026.
Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week) Monday – Thursday, weather permitting.
Crew Member Pay: $560 - $680 per week (depending on experience).
Position Summary:
Young American Conservation Corps (YACC), a program of Community Training Works (CTW), and our land managing agency partners have teamed up to offer a conservation job opportunity to local young adults in the Northwest Florida area for a Wetlands Habitat Improvement Project.
We are seeking a passionate person who loves the outdoors and the species that inhabit it. This role supports the restoration and protection of natural areas and habitat for the Reticulated Flatwood Salamander and Florida Bog Frog habitat through physical fieldwork, teamwork, safe equipment use, and environmental stewardship. The individual will work alongside biologists to perform outdoor conservation work which includes removal of trees, brush and woody duff and invasive species removal.
Positions Available:
- 4 Crew Member positions available
- $560 - $680 per week (depending on experience).
- Must be enthusiastic about working outdoors, have chain saw certification (will train if not certified). Weed eater/brush cutter experience is preferred.
- Project duration will be from May to September 2026. Potential with trail maintenance after this project ends.

Description of Project Work:
- Work alongside biologists to improve Reticulated Flatwood Salamander and Florida Bog Frog habitat.
- Project work will consist of removing woody vegetation (remove trees from the overstory, remove brush from the midstory) from selected ephemeral ponds.
- Apply or reapply herbicide to trees (lances).
- Perform daily tool maintenance and equipment repairs as needed.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must be between 18 and 35 years of age.
- Must be able to carry at least 45 pounds and hike through various terrains for 1 to 4 miles.
- Must be enthusiastic about working outdoors and have a respect for nature.
- Able to work in extremely hot, humid, buggy, and wet conditions around insects and wildlife.
- Herbicide Licensing (Florida Core Forest Pest Control, Florida Category 5a Aquatic Pest Control, Florida Cat 21 Natural Areas) preferred for Crew Leader, will train Crew Members.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
- Must have reliable transportation to meet at the Milton, FL location each morning
