Position Summary
Habitat stewards are responsible for performing tasks involving physical labor for landscape installations and management. The person in this position may operate a variety of hand and power tools, clean and prepare sites, place matting, remove sod, plant native plants, move and place materials, clean up debris and remove waste materials. This position will combine both work as a member of a team and work independently.
Job Type: Part-Time
Hourly Pay: $17-$22 depending on experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Performing a variety of tasks and assigned work duties involving strenuous manual labor in outdoor projects and worksites
2. Maintaining a clean job site; picking up all tools and equipment and securing the job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards
3. Loading and unloading trucks, hauling and material handling and storage
4. Performing required light maintenance of equipment
5. Completing all assigned tasks in a timely manner and maintaining appropriate pace throughout the day
6. Using timecard tracking system effectively
7. Reading and interpreting project site plans
8. Responsible for wearing and maintaining safe workwear, including boots, gloves, pants and outdoor gear
9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, without direct supervision
10. Effectively and positively communicate with customers or community members during installations
11. Attend and be an active participant in regular team meetings, discussions and debriefs
12. Accompany supervisors on material procurement in company vehicle up to 50+ miles away from job site
13. Perform essential project preparation duties at the company shop
14. Performing other work-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license or ID prior to employment
- Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work
- Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies
- Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing
- Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
- Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency

8. Follow instructions of all supervisors and crew leads. This position is in no way supervisory and does not authorize crew members the ability to dictate scheduling, performance or duties assigned to other crew members.

Excellent stamina is required. The noise level in the work environment can be loud and require ear protection.
