Job Description:

The Head Grower will oversee all aspects of plant cultivation, including germination and viability testing, implementing sowing protocols, occasional transplanting, monitoring plant health and development, and executing production plans. This role reports directly to the Production Manager to coordinate production runs and is responsible for leading the greenhouse team in all day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work hand in hand with the Production Manager to ensure production runs are completed accurately and on schedule
  • Collect and analyze data to improve plant quality, optimize yields, increase production efficiency, and maintain inventory
  • Oversee plant production from germination to finished product, including possible thinning, nutrient treatments, and general maintenance
  • Improve standards for containerized plant production, with a focus on root development and overall plant health
  • Monitor plant health, fertilization, and development stages to ensure consistent, high-quality output
  • Supervise and mentor team members, including greenhouse technicians and seasonal employees

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Ecology, or related field
  • Familiarity with native plants of the Intermountain West
  • 2 years of experience in greenhouse settings; prior experience in a grower role preferred
  • 1 year of experience in a supervisory role preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to work outside in all conditions
