Job Title: Entry Level Laboratory Analyst

Position Summary:

The Laboratory Analyst performs chemical testing on liquid, solid, and soil samples using standard bench methods (titrations, pH, gravimetric analysis). They are responsible for preparing reagents, maintaining equipment, and documenting data into spreadsheets and databases. They must follow our Standard Operating Procedures which require documentation and precision which ensure quality data.

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday 8 hour day shift
  • Rotating Weekend and Holiday shifts

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sample Analysis: Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses (e.g., pH, BOD, moisture, metals) on water, wastewater, and soil samples using standard procedures.
  • Sample Preparation: Prepare samples via digestion and filtration; prepare reagents, standards, and buffers.
  • Instrumentation: Operate and maintain lab equipment like analytical balances, pipettes, pH meters, dissolved oxygen meters, drying ovens, and sample incubators.
  • Data Management: Accurately record, process, and enter data into Excel spreadsheets and databases, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Quality Control (QC): Perform QC checks, verify data against specifications, and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed, legible logbooks, and update SOPs.
  • Lab Maintenance: Keep workspace, equipment, and inventory (reagents, samples) clean, organized, and stocked. 
  •  Additional opportunities: Automated instrumentation (PCR, IC, ICP-MS, ICP-OES)

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's or bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related science field preferred. High school diploma is required.
  • Skills:
    •  Strong attention to detail
    • Ability to follow complex procedures
    • Data entry
    • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
    • Teamwork, willingness to assist other laboratory personnel
    • Be self-motivated and ambitious with the ability to work independently
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot experimental issues
    •  Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members
    • Complete required training within required timeframes and attend regular laboratory meetings
