Lake Construction & Design Specialist
Location: Jasper, GA, plus travel, including overnight
Type: Full-Time | In-Office & Field-Based
We are seeking a highly capable, self-motivated professional to take ownership of our lake and pond construction planning process—from feasibility studies to final reporting and customer handoff. The ideal candidate will not only be able to replicate the high-quality reports and assessments we currently produce, but elevate the standard and help support business growth through confident technical delivery, grading expertise, and strong sales facilitation.
This is a technical and client-facing role that requires a deep understanding of lake construction principles, grading and watershed evaluation, habitat design, sales process and clear, professional communication. You’ll work with internal teams, clients, contractors, engineers, and biologists to guide projects from concept to construction and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess lake construction feasibility through site visits, grading evaluation, topo analysis, and watershed understanding
- Read and interpret topographic maps and watershed data accurately
- Create professional-grade reports and recommendations for clients that meet or exceed current standards
- Develop lake and pond designs that integrate fish habitat planning and long-term ecosystem goals
- Facilitate communication and bids between clients and subcontractors, acting as a trusted liaison throughout
- Support the sales handoff process, ensuring seamless transition from design to construction and post-build services
- Serve as the lead technical advisor on construction projects, offering guidance on-site and remotely
- Coordinate with geotechnical engineers, civil engineers, and field teams
- Use GIS, CAD, or other mapping tools to create clear, accurate visuals for clients and contractors
- Delegate post-construction fishery follow-up or lead it directly, depending on project scope and client needs
- Represent the team with professionalism and a solutions-first mindset in all client interactions
Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven ability to read and evaluate topographic maps and grading scenarios
- Experience creating maps using GIS, CAD, or similar technical software
- Degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related field
- Significant hands-on experience with pond/lake construction, watershed planning, or large-scale site development
- Strong writing skills for professional, client-ready reporting and proposals
- Skilled at client interaction, consultation, and bridging technical work with sales support
- Passionate about outdoor environments and the role of good design in long-term stewardship
- Humble, team-oriented approach to leadership and coaching
- Comfortable delegating to others and leading without relying on title or authority—servant leadership mindset
- Quick to learn, open to mentorship, and eager to grow into a leadership role over time
- Embodies ADEPT traits: Attitude, Dependability, Energy, Productivity, Teachability
- Long-term vision to become the in-house expert on lake design, freeing up senior leadership for high-end client development
This Role Likely Isn’t a Match If You:
- Find it difficult to work collaboratively or struggle to lead with a servant’s heart
- Resist coaching, feedback, or opportunities to grow professionally
- Wait to be told what to do instead of taking initiative and ownership
- Cannot meet or maintain current standards of reporting, communication, or follow-through
- Are uncomfortable supporting the sales processes, client handoffs, or ongoing client relationships
- Do not have the attention to detail needed for accurate grading, design planning, or feasibility assessments
The Goal
You will become the go-to expert for lake design and construction—leading projects from concept to completion with confidence and professionalism. This role is central to helping us remain the #1 source for turnkey pond and lake projects, driven by technical excellence, humble leadership, and client-centered service.
Compensation
This is a full-time, in-office role with competitive salary based on experience and qualifications. Opportunities for growth, mentorship, and future leadership responsibilities are built into this position for the right candidate.
