  • Share information about ways to recreate in Tahoe, favorite hikes and bike trails, and more
  • Model good stewardship by picking up trash, handing out pet waste bags, talking with the public about best practices, and more
  • Collect visitor-use data by tracking observations and interactions with the public
  • Present natural history information to the public
  • Attend additional trainings outside of public work days on related skills like natural history, trail maintenance, species identification, public speaking, research techniques, and more

Additional Crew Lead responsibilities and activities:

  • Help facilitate all aspects of the program, including hiring, scheduling, and training of Ambassadors, including overseeing regular work days
  • Directly supervise a team of Ambassadors
  • Assist Ambassadors when they are in the field by providing materials, logistical support, and helping facilitate work days
  • Participate in weekly meetings with the Program Director
  • Facilitate program participants’ data collection to ensure completion
  • Facilitate special trainings outside of regular workdays, including networking with local conservation partners

 Required Qualifications:

  • A willingness to learn about Tahoe’s environment, sound stewardship practices, and local ordinances
  • Experience managing others or experience working in a professional team environment
  • Self-motivation and drive to approach visitors to engage them in conversation about how to be good stewards
  • Capable of communicating and interacting in a respectful and inclusive manner with people of all ages and backgrounds
  • Good time management and punctuality, including responding promptly to emails and phone calls, and a strong ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to promptly and efficiently use Gmail, Google Drive, smartphone apps, and other technology for work purposes
  • Capable of standing and walking outdoors in variable weather conditions for up to 8 hours at a time
  • Must have transportation to and from work sites throughout the Tahoe Basin
  • Must be available for in-person work from June to September, including the 4th of July, with no major away dates planned
