Job Summary:

This is professional work implementing District land management plans and assisting in pre-acquisition evaluation and management planning.

Job duties include:

  • Coordinating with other agencies, directing District staff, and performing land management activities; participates and/or supervises the following activities: plant and wildlife surveys, vegetation control, tree planting, timber marking and harvesting, site preparation, prescribed burning, suppressing wildfires, timber cruising, and volume estimation.
  • Supervises Land Management Specialist and Technician.
  • Ensures proper management of natural systems by: monitoring land use and its impacts, monitoring natural areas and observing ecological needs, and identifying and implementing resource management actions.
  • Protects District lands and facilities by developing fire management and security plans, observing and reporting activities such as vandalism, poaching and wildfires; and maintaining good relations with law enforcement personnel.
  • Assists the Land Management Program Manager by evaluating land use requests, managing approved requests, evaluating potential acquisitions, inventorying recently acquired parcels, and performing other related duties assigned.
  • Maintains relations with District lessees, permit holders, licensees and cooperators and ensures compliance with agreements and regulations.
  • Encourages public support for the Land Management program by meeting with user groups, responding to public inquires, conducting tours, and making presentations. Works with the Public Use Land Manager to develop and manage recreation infrastructure.
  • Assists in the development of area management plans and budgets by providing area specific land management information.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in natural resource management or a related field and two years experience in natural resource management and planning.
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university in natural resource management or a related field can substitute for one year of the required experience.

Additional Details:

Base Salary: $45,801.60
