Appalachia Ohio Alliance (AOA), a local land trust serving Southern and Central Ohio, is hiring a Land Stewardship Technician based out of Pickaway County, Ohio. This is a part time-temporary position lasting 3 to 4 months, with the possibility of extension at the end of the position contingent upon performance and funding. Applicant should expect to work an average of 3 days per week. Schedule can be somewhat flexible and can be discussed. The Land Stewardship Technician will primarily be responsible for removing invasive species on AOA’s properties and preserves in Pickaway county. Occasional travel to other counties may be required, in which case millage will be reimbursed at the federal reimbursement rate. Invasive species will be removed using chain-saw and cut stump/herbicide method. Applicant must have prior chainsaw experience and the ability to work independently when needed. Terrain will vary from flat to steep, so applicant must be in good physical shape and able to lift/carry a moderate amount of weight for reasonable distances. This will be a demanding position, yet rewarding to the right person who enjoys taking care of our local natural resources, and appreciates the tangible results of removing invasive species from delicate ecosystems. Ideal for a natural resources student or anyone interested in working outside in a beautiful natural environment.

Qualifications

-Prior experience with a chainsaw required.  Chainsaw Certification Preferred

-Ability to work independently with little or no supervision

-Good physical health and shape- ability to work outside in all climate types including cold     Ohio winters

-Must be okay working with Herbicides

-Strong proven work ethic

-Appreciation/passion for fostering natural resources and the outdoors

-Available to work average 3 days per week (will vary by week) with average workday around 8 hours

**Main job location is near Darbyville Ohio.  Applicants should take this into consideration as no travel reimbursement is available traveling to and from Darbyville**
