Weyerhaeuser Company has a Lead Frontline Supervisor opening at our Log Export Facility in Longview, WA. Come join our Marketing team, which manages the largest log export facility in North America!
This is a salaried exempt position, reporting to the Longview and Olympia Export Yard Leader. Salary range varies based on qualifications and experience.
As the Lead Supervisor, your responsibilities encompass safety management, financial results (including costs and revenues), log yard and dock logistics, managing union employees, production, quality, log accountability and inventory management. Preferred experience includes: log scaling, log marketing, heavy equipment maintenance, industrial safety, and production supervision. In addition, you must be willing and able to work necessary hours, and effectively work with the export yard’s leadership team to get the needs to the business accomplished. Flexibility is key, as this position involves weekend duties/on-call responsibilities in a rotation with peers.
Key Functions
- Model safe behaviors as a leader in accident prevention, near miss reporting, safety trainings, audits; hold safety meetings, perform inspections, engage in the safety committee, and participate in Weyerhaeuser’s Health & Safety Program
- Assist the WA Export Yards Lead in developing the team to achieve operational excellence (safety, reliability, cost, quality) and satisfy customer requirements and expectations
- Ensure compliance with company, state and federal regulations, including safety, environmental, labor, etc.
- Manage hourly employees within the framework of Weyerhaeuser Policies and the Collective Bargaining Agreement to accomplish goals
- In conjunction with Longview’s frontline leadership team, lead/facilitate the planning and execution of daily/weekly activities of the hourly crew to achieve business objectives
- Provide team and individual feedback, coaching and discipline
- Perform administrative duties utilizing software including Microsoft Office, databases, payroll systems, and other computer programs
- Facilitate resolution of team issues that may arise
- Work together with other organizational leaders to achieve shared goals and objectives of the Western Timberlands supply chain
- Collaborate with other WY leaders across business units to coordinate daily activities on the Longview Industrial Site
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree (or higher) in Forestry, Land Management, Business, Manufacturing or related field OR equivalent in related experience
- At least 8 years of work experience in operations or log marketing; at least 4 years supervisory experience preferred
- Highly motivated, creative and self-directed team player
- Possess strong leadership, communication (written and oral), and interpersonal skills
- Strong business acumen, with solid ability and experience in business negotiations
- Demonstrated ability to role model and promote a safe work environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain and transportation systems, their application, their cost structure and rate determination methods
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite of products
- Valid driver's license with the ability to safely operate a vehicle
- Ability to safely walk in and around yard operations and heavy equipment
This position is designated by WY as a safety-sensitive position. Please be advised that due to the designation of this position as safety-sensitive, you will be subject to pre-employment testing for cannabis and its metabolites.
What We Offer
Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $94,977 - $142,465 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 10% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.
Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
