The Lead Trail Specialist for the Northwest NC Mountain Bike Alliance is a full-time, salaried position ($60,000–$65,000) focused on the technical planning, construction, and maintenance of trail systems within the Grandfather District of Pisgah National Forest. This role is a key part of a five-year Federal Helene Recovery Initiative aimed at rebuilding recreation infrastructure damaged by Hurricane Helene. The specialist serves as the primary technical liaison with the U.S. Forest Service, managing contractor bids, overseeing project compliance, and leading field design and GIS mapping. Beyond technical duties, the position requires a hands-on leader who can coordinate volunteer events, manage maintenance budgets, and ensure the long-term sustainability of the region's trails.
