Job Title: Logistics and Member Support Coordinator
Location: Hurricane, Utah (St. George Area)
Department/Division: CREW, Mountain West
Status: Temporary Full-Time (Exempt)
Schedule/Hours: Flexible schedule with varying shifts; 40 hours/week with additional hours as needed. Some evening and weekend hours may be occasionally required.
Reports To: Associate Director of Member Programs
Travel: 10-20%; Primarily local travel with some regional travel.

Position Summary:
ACE's Mountain West Crew program operates 9 months out of the year, beginning in March and concluding by late November, completing diverse conservation field projects on public lands throughout the Mountain West Region of the U.S. Based in Hurricane, Utah at the "gateway to Zion National Park," ACE Mountain West field projects include fuels reduction and thinning, invasive species treatment, native plant restoration, trail construction and more and range in location throughout southern Utah and all of Mountain West region of the U.S., from the red rock hoodoos of Bryce Canyon and Arches to the mountain peaks of the Wasatch Range to the heart of the Great Basin desert and beyond!
As the ACE Logistics and Member Support Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing on-the-ground support at the ACE Mountain West location, directly supporting our conservation field crews, members, and projects.
The Logistics and Member Support Coordinator has three major areas of responsibility:
1) Purchasing and meal planning
2) Member Support
3) Housing and Gear Management
As a key member of the ACE Member Support Team, the Logistics and Member Support Coordinator is responsible for managing all aspects of planning, purchasing, and providing meal provisions for ACE crews working in the field, as well as providing on the ground support to members including AmeriCorps timesheet assistance, mid term check ins and end of term evaluation. This position will also manage the human element of housing including room assignments as well as overseeing the Housing Supervisor program. This dynamic position works closely with the Operations Managers as well as the Member Resource team to ensure that conservation crews are prepared to successfully complete field projects with all necessary supplies and equipment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Purchasing and Meal Planning:
- Develop nutritious meal plans that are applicable for up to eight (8-person) crews based in outdoor spike camp situations.
- Purchase quality and bulk foods and pack foods in crew food bins or coolers. Ensure that when purchasing any item that ACE is getting the best value for money, check the internet for price comparison, and develop relationships with local suppliers.
- Pack and transport purchased goods from stores to the ACE warehouse as required in an ACE vehicle.
- Repair and maintain sufficient food coolers and dry boxes.
- Maintain cookset resupply and stoves.
- Communicate and coordinate with Crew Leaders to ensure appropriate provisions are purchased if the crew is on a field project longer than two weeks.
- Review crew schedules and then develop a menu of breakfasts, lunches, and dinners for crews providing suitable options for those with dietary restrictions such as vegetarian, gluten free, etc.
Member Support
- Upload and manage member information in ACE's internal database.
- Maintain the utmost professionalism and confidentiality in sensitive communications with members and staff.
- Ensure completion and accuracy of member timesheets in America Learns
- Assist with members interviews as assigned by Associate Director of Member Programs
- Collaborate with other ACE staff to mentor and facilitate professional development.
- Serve as an ACE point of contact for members during their ACE term(s). Duties include but are not limited to: secure transportation for arrival, and support members' needs during their term.
- Assist with leading debriefs with crews
- Monitor hours for members during their term of service
- Conduct and document required Mid-Term Evaluations and End-of-Term Evaluations with every member in the conservation service program
- Monitor member feedback and respond appropriately as well as providing necessary support and mentorship where needed.
- Communicate opportunities with members on an ongoing basis through maintaining the monthly Newsletter.
- Foster an environment that is anti-bullying, anti-harassment and anti-discrimination.
- Facilitate and document member development, including disciplinary or corrective action(s) in accordance with ACE policy, as needed.
- Perform other duties and related functions as needed or assigned by the Associate Director of Member Programs.
Housing and Gear Management
- Ensure that corps members are provided a safe and welcoming environment for them to complete their term with ACE, and voice needs and concerns to the Fleet and Facilities Manager when there are areas for improvement in housing.
- Acquire, and supply PPE, crew uniforms and tents to members
- Assign new members to rooms in housing
- Select and oversee housing supervisors
- Assist with leading cleaning events at ACE housing
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and one year of related professional experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Intermediate level computer skills, specifically including knowledge of Microsoft Office products and a familiarity with the Google Apps suite.
- Previous experience working with young adults in a team setting.
- Knowledge or leadership experience within the conservation or outdoor recreation field.
- Experience shopping for and creating healthy, cost effective recipes, preferably for field crews.
- Ability to adapt to work environments and conditions that can change frequently.
- Experience in communicating rules and regulations and holding others responsible to expectations.
- Ability to handle concurrent operations in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel and camp out for extended periods of time if needed.
- Must be flexible and possess a high work ethic.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members, staff, and the general public.
- Ability to maintain a positive, constructive work environment conducive to team performance.

Other Requirements:
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record. Staff must be 21+ to drive due to ACE’s insurance and liability requirements.

Physical Demands, Work Environment and Working Conditions:
Physical Demands: Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, hiking, carrying, using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talks and hears. Manual dexterity required for use of hand and power tools, computer keyboard/mouse and other office equipment. Required to stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and/or crouch. Ability to hike over rough terrain, and camp overnight under field conditions.
Vision Requirements: Requires close, distance, peripheral and depth perception vision as well as the ability to focus.
Weight Lifted or Force Exerted: Frequently moves up to 50 lbs., ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
Environmental: Outdoor and indoor conditions. Work environment conditions can change frequently; working under adverse weather conditions and in various climates.
Noise Environment: Moderate noise.
Travel: This position requires domestic travel.
Compensation (Grade 2): Bi-Weekly pay of $1,920 - $2,080

Holidays, Vacation, and Sick Time: As an ACE staff member, you will be eligible to accrue up to 80 hours of paid vacation time annually during your first two years of continuous employment, then it increases to 120 hours annually. ACE observes 13 paid annual holidays (floating holiday flexibility). ACE provides 10 days (or 80 hours) of paid sick time annually.
