Big Sur Land Trust (BSLT) is seeking a Marketing & Development Associate to support our fundraising, communications, and outreach efforts. This entry‑level to early‑career role is a great opportunity for someone interested in nonprofit marketing, donor engagement, and storytelling with purpose. The Associate will work closely with the Development team to help share our mission, support fundraising campaigns, and engage our community.

Big Sur Land Trust is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring love of land across generations, conserving Monterey County’s unique landscapes, and increasing access to outdoor experiences for all.

Key Responsibilities

• Support marketing, communications, and fundraising initiatives across multiple channels
• Assist with social media, email campaigns, website updates, and printed materials
• Help coordinate donor communications and stewardship activities
• Support logistics for fundraising and donor events
• Assist with content creation, including stories, promotional materials, and basic media support
• Help maintain accurate donor and marketing records
• Support Development and Communications projects as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, or development preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks
• Comfortable using Microsoft 365; Salesforce experience a plus
• Interest in conservation, nonprofit work, or mission‑driven organizations

Work Environment & Requirements

• Occasional evenings or weekends for events
• Ability to attend meetings and events locally
• Valid driver’s license preferred

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly pay range: approximately $31–$35/hour, depending on experience
