Summer/fall contract with the National Forest Foundation and USDA Forest Service. This contract is ideal for college students and recently grads interested in gaining diverse experience in forest management during the 12 week contract position! Work will include, but not be limited to:
- Red pine cone crop forecasting and inspection
- Stocking and survival surveys
- Natural regeneration surveys
- Manual site preparation for regeneration
- Nonnative invasive species (NNIS) treatments
- Common stand exams
- Post-harvest monitoring
- Wildfire surveys
- Photo & video collection of fieldwork and content creation for communication efforts
Work will occur on the Huron-Manistee National Forests, Huron Shores Ranger District, in Michigan.
Housing is available in Oscoda, Michigan. Anticipated contract period is June through October (480 hours/approx.12 weeks). Ending date is flexible through October.
