The South Carolina Rural Water Association, a nonprofit trade association for South Carolina water and wastewater utilities, is seeking a natural resource management professional. This role is posted as a part-time position, with the possibility of becoming full-time as additional funding is secured. This is a remote-hybrid position based in South Carolina. While much of the work may be performed remotely, regular travel to SCRWA’s headquarters in Columbia, South Carolina, as well as project sites and meetings throughout the state, is required.   

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 

• Work independently while managing multiple projects and priorities. 
• Coordinate and facilitate collaboration among forestry, water, and natural resource partners across South Carolina. 
• Build and maintain partnerships with private landowners, public water utilities, conservation organizations, state and federal agencies, technical service providers, and other stakeholders. 
• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate advisory committee meetings, stakeholder meetings, workshops, and other collaborative events. 
• Support the development and implementation of EPA Section 319 Watershed Planning and Implementation, USDA Forest Service, and other grant-funded initiatives. 
• Assist with the development of South Carolina Forestry Commission Stewardship Management Plans. 
• Conduct watershed assessments, GIS-based prioritization analyses, and other technical evaluations supporting watershed protection and emerging private environmental markets. 
• Lead the development of a landscape-scale watershed project that aligns with the South Carolina Forest Action Plan. 
• Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual South Carolina Forests and Water Consortium meetings (2026–2028). 
• Create, coordinate, and distribute educational materials, surveys, and other outreach resources. 
• Monitor project schedules, milestones, deliverables, performance measures, and budgets to ensure successful project implementation. 
• Prepare grant documentation and project reports, including quarterly, annual, and final reports. 
• Travel throughout South Carolina to attend project sites, meetings, workshops, conferences, and other project-related activities as required. 

Desired Education: 

• Bachelor of Science, preferably in the fields of Environmental Management / Environmental Science. 
• Master's in Environmental Science, or related field, is welcome. 

Desired Experience: 

• Self-directed project management, leading to the successful completion of required deliverables. 
• 1+ years of operating ESRI’s ArcPro GIS software. 
• Microsoft Office proficiency. 
• Possess a working knowledge of forest management practices, point and nonpoint pollution, and best management practices (BMPs). 
• Formal report writing skills. 
• Public speaking proficiency. 
• Have reliable transportation and willing to travel extensively including occasional overnight stays. 

Compensation and Benefits: 

• Hourly pay: $25 to $30 per hour up to 30 hours per week. 
• 401k with 5% employer match. 
• Travel reimbursement at the Federal rate per mile.
