The Natural Resources team at Sonoma County Regional Parks is hiring several early career field technicians to assist in invasive plant management, environmental stewardship, ecological restoration, habitat conservation, prescribed fire, forest management, and fuels reduction. Advance your career in Natural Resource Management and Ecological Restoration through diverse field projects across Sonoma County’s regional parks. Contribute to the environmental stewardship of forests, oak woodlands, coastal prairies, dunes, creeks, vernal pools, and grasslands.

Natural Resource Maintenance Workers (NRMW) are responsible for environmental field work related to plant management, environmental stewardship, restoration, habitat conservation, and forest management. Additional responsibilities include: identification of native and non-native plant species, Applying invasive plant management techniques including mowing, weeding, spraying, pruning, burning and other methods, Operating and maintaining mechanical equipment and hand tools, Supporting Natural Resources programs which include forest management, prescribed fire, restoration, and targeted grazing.

The ideal candidates will possess many of the following: Experience operating mechanical equipment such as mowers, chainsaws, string trimmers, water pumps, and hand tools; Familiarity with native and non-native plant species and identification methods; Experience in environmental field work; Experience driving four-wheel drive trucks, trailers, and utility vehicles; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; The ability to work individually and as a team; A positive attitude under environmentally challenging conditions.
