The County of Yolo is recruiting to fill one regular, full-time position in the Natural Resources Planner classification in the General Services Department, Parks & Conservation Planning Division.
The General Services Department is responsible for the maintenance, remodeling, and management of all county-owned facilities, leased spaces, parks, and the County Airport. The mission of the General Services department is to provide the foundation to ensure safe and efficient delivery of services in the natural and built environment throughout Yolo County. The Parks & Conservation Planning Division is a newly constituted division merging Parks Planning, Natural Resources, and Yolo Habitat Conservancy functions under one division for better coordination and planning of habitat management, rehabilitation, and restoration.
The Natural Resources Planner performs natural resource management duties including, but not limited to, planning and implementation of habitat management and park and open space projects, enhancement and restoration projects, monitoring and analysis of fluvial and geomorphic processes, development of mitigation strategies, acquisition of conservation easements, permitting and application review; plans and conducts public outreach activities; researches and compiles information, writes reports, makes recommendations, and implements policies; obtains, supervises and contracts for consultant services, manages contracts, seeks, obtains, and implements grants, and monitors to ensure compliance with grant requirements and manages budgets. This position will have a specific focus on policy matters related to the implementation of the Cache Creek Area Plan, including both the Cache Creek Resource Management Plan and the Off-Channel Mining Plan, the Yolo County Parks Master Plan, the Yolo Habitat Conservation Plan/Natural Communities Conservation Plan, the Yolo County Strategic Plan, as applicable. This position also serves as liaison to various resource management related citizen and advisory groups within the County. In this role the incumbent will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing complex environmental documents and studies, including CEQA and NEPA, and representing the County and its policy positions in a variety of settings including all levels of government (federal, state, local) as well as with other stakeholder groups. Experience with water, flood control, environmental, and agricultural policy are desirable.
