Responsibility

Under the direction of the natural resource manager, assists with duties pertaining to natural resource management 

Examples of Duties

• Invasive plant management 
• Aquatic resource management projects 
• Tree maintenance projects 
• Park maintenance activities 
• Operation of mowing equipment, chainsaws, tractors, and trucks 
• Natural resource inventories (i.e., flora and fauna surveys)
• Stream assesments
• Seed collection

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 

• Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and have some experience with equipment operation 
• Teamwork, communication, and partnership skills, and the ability to work directly with all levels of the organization to achieve common goals
• Trust, integrity, and credibility 

Required Physical Abilities Include the Following, But Are Not Limited To

• Must work in the outdoors in inclement weather 
• Must occasionally lift items in excess of 50 pounds 
• Must occasionally work around heavy equipment during construction projects 
• Difficult, physical labor is required 

Desired Training and Experience Requirements

• Minimum first-year student in natural resource management, park and recreation management, wildlife management, or related field 
• Possession of a valid Ohio motor vehicle operator's license with a good driving record
• Knowledge of northeast Ohio flora and fauna
• Familiarity with herbicide usage, storage/transportation, and safety
• Passion for ecology and stewardship of resources
• Personable and able to work well as a part of a small team
