The City of Burnsville is seeking a Natural Resources Technician to assist with the planning, administration, and implementation of natural resources programs focused on water resources, upland habitat, wildlife management, and environmental outreach and education.

In this role, you will help protect and enhance the City's natural resources while collaborating with City staff, residents, community partners, and local organizations. This position offers the opportunity to make a daily impact by supporting healthy, accessible natural areas, promoting sustainable practices, and preserving the environment for future generations.

This is a non-exempt position with a starting salary of $86,195.20 annually.

What You’ll Bring to Help You Be Successful

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental studies, or a related natural resources field; or an equivalent combination of training and education to perform the work.
• Two years of experience in water resources and lake management.
• Experience using GIS-based software.
• Ability to present to citizen groups and City commissions.
• Valid Minnesota driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience and interest in habitat and wildlife management.
• Experience with wetland conservation requirements.
• Local government experience.
