Natural Resources Technician

Summit Lake Paiute Tribe

Reno/Summit Lake Indian Reservation , Nevada

Summit Lake Indian Reservation is located three hours north of Reno, NV. Travel to and from the reservation is provided from the tribal office, located near Reno.

The Natural Resource Technician Position is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of projects assisting Fish and Wildlife Biologist(s) and other Natural Resources Department employees performing natural resources projects.

This is a great opportunity to work with the federally threatened Lahontan Cutthroat Trout (LCT) conducting sampling events, monitoring habitat, water quality and quantity. As part of preserving habitat for LCT, Technicians and Biologists perform noxious weed control in upland habitats and when conditions permit within the riparian corridor.

Technicians will also be trained in proper handling and survey techniques for conducting sage grouse telemetry work within and around the reservation. Additional duties delegated by supervisors may include other biological, meteorological, or habitat related work. As this location is remote the incumbent may be called upon to perform work tasks to assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the reservation. These projects are funded through grants and may vary depending on availability of funding.
