We are currently looking to hire a part or full time naturalist for our 2026 whale watching season. Applicants should have experience with public speaking and be prificient at science communication. Experience with the Southern Gulf of Maine whale population is a plus but no required. Must be able to work until Labor Day (Sept 7th) at a minimum.
Responsibilities include: Helping to get the boat ready to get underway, helping to embark passenegers and welcome them aboard, doing an introductory "dock talk" just prior to departure, speaking with passengers on the way out and back in from the whale's feeding grounds, and, of course, providing a narration on the biology, behavior of the whales and their marine ecosystem while we are on whales. Upon arrival back to our dock the naturalist helps to disenbark passengers and with vleaning the vessel along with the rest of the crew.
Other reposibilities include photographing the whale we see for the purposes of individual identification and taking data on the location, behavior and associations of whales. Camera and all photographic equipment is supplied by the compant but some prior experience with photography is also a plus.
Pay is per trip and starts at $175/trip (not including any tips which would be additional).
