This position requires competence in identifing specific species and have skills writing biological resources assessments (BRA), both CEQA and NEPA. Additionally, you will need experience in surveying and monitoring plant and animal species. (What's in your wallet? ...sorry, we couldn't resist.)

What assignments will you have?
A potential assignment could be managing a BRA from desktop research to field survey and writing the technical report.
Our needs include experienced biologists conducting fieldwork to provide monitoring reports and working with construction crews to maintain compliance with permits and regulations. Do you have at least two monitoring projects under your belt?
Additionally, our specialists will implement Mitigation Measures and permit Conditions listed in USFWS, USACE, SWRCB, and CDFW opinions and/or permits. A strong candidate must demonstrate positive relationships with local agencies and provide evidence of strong technical and analytical skills, experience with special-status species native to California. Relevant Experience:
The following experience is valuable but not necessarily required.
- Demonstrated Survey or Monitoring experience with: California tiger salamander, San Joaquin kit fox, San Joaquin antelope squirrel, kangaroo rats, desert tortoise, California red-legged frog, Swainson’s hawk, or nesting birds.
- Ability to identify special-status wildlife and plant species in the field, and experience handling wildlife species.
- Burrow and den excavations.
- Experience using ArcGIS Collector or Field Maps applications in the field.
- Wildlife exclusion fence (WEF) monitoring or installation.
- Conducting wetland delineations.
Responsibilities include:
- Technical report writing experience - But don't let this stop you if you are new to this work. We are seeking all wildlife biologists who can fit all or part of these responsiblities in this posting.
- Conducting surveys for biological resources.
- Construction monitoring for biological resources.
- Field site visits, following survey protocols.
- Coordinating with construction teams regarding schedules & compliance.
- Working as an integral part of a large, diverse team.
- Providing timely project deliverables to the project manager.
- Providing quality control for habitat assessments and monitoring reports.
- Implementing appropriate protocols
Qualifications:
- California residents only.
- Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science or related field.
- 2-3 + years of experience performing fieldwork in California
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- On-Call
