On-Call Biologist

Blackhawk Environmental, Inc.

San Diego, California

Job Type Permanent
Salary Commensurate with experience
Min. Experience 0 - 1 year

Blackhawk Environmental, Inc. is now hiring qualified on-call biologists to join our growing team. Successful candidates can expect to support a variety of projects involving biological construction monitoring, nesting bird surveys, special-status species surveys, habitat assessments, aquatic resource assessments, environmental compliance monitoring, biological reconnaissance surveys, and related natural resource field investigations. Prior experience conducting biological monitoring and surveys within active construction environments is highly desirable.

On-call biologists will augment our current full-time and on-call staff by providing additional support when and where needed, primarily throughout San Diego County, but potentially elsewhere in Southern California. As such, successful candidates must possess flexibility, adaptability, internal motivation, patience, sound judgment, and the ability to thrive in dynamic environments with changing project needs, schedules, and field conditions.

Anticipated responsibilities consist primarily of conducting biological field work before, during, and after construction activities; this is not primarily an office-based position. However, depending on project needs and the unique qualifications of successful candidates, additional responsibilities may include assisting with or preparing technical reports, environmental data collection and management, QA/QC review, GIS and desktop constraints analyses, permit compliance documentation, and other project deliverables. All work will be directed by Blackhawk management, who will provide the tools, background information, training, and project-specific guidance necessary to support your success in the field and on assigned tasks.

Work hours may vary from week to week based on project needs and can range from occasional assignments to full-time workloads depending on season and project demands.
