About Run on Climate (ROC)

Run On Climate works to accelerate cutting-edge climate policy at the local (town, city, and county) level. We support candidates, collaborate with elected leaders, and expand the influence of climate justice advocates to drive change in communities nationwide. 

Position Overview:

Run On Climate is seeking an Operations Director to ensure smooth and efficient organizational functioning across multiple domains. This includes overseeing day-to-day operations and internal systems, legal and compliance work, human resources, and occasional support with bookkeeping and budget management. The Operations Director will play a key role in keeping Run On Climate’s work running seamlessly, improving our efficiency and effectiveness, and supporting our mission-driven initiatives.

Compensation: $22-25/hour, commensurate with experience, plus Paid Time Off and Healthcare benefits.

Employment Type: Full Time

Hours: 35-40 hours/week

Location: Flexible/remote

Key Responsibilities:

  • Across all responsibilities: identify and implement efficiencies that save the organization money and time.
  • Operations and Administration: Lead weekly leadership meetings and manage internal communications, support budgeting and financial tracking, and handle general administrative tasks, including data entry.
  • Human Resources and Staff Support: Manage payroll, benefits, and staff records, facilitate evaluations and performance reviews, insurance and benefits management, support workplace policy implementation, and maintain organized systems to support staff operations and team efficiency and ensure all documentation and compliance requirements are met.
  • Programs and Internships: Support interns and program staff by coordinating onboarding, intern stipends, scheduling, time tracking, documentation, and school partnerships, while identifying ways to improve program efficiency and the overall participant experience.
  • Events and Projects: Support the operational needs of organizational events, canvasses, and special initiatives, including logistics, materials, and follow-up to ensure smooth execution.
  • Executive Assistance: Collaborate closely with, and provide ongoing task support to, the Executive Director to keep operations aligned with Run On Climate’s mission and evolving goals.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in administrative or operational management, preferably within the nonprofit sector. 
  • Commitment to Run On Climate’s mission and vision.
  • Must have experience in Google Suite applications and basic data or CRM management.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote, team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit compliance, HR, or legal requirements is a plus.
  • Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, and fundraising is a plus.
  • Executive assistance experience is a plus.
