The Ipswich River Watershed Association (IRWA) seeks candidates for a full-time Operations Manager (OM) to join our team. The OM will manage daily office operations and property maintenance, actively participate in sustaining the healthy and active team culture and work environment, support various daily and weekly operational tasks and projects for both internal and external-facing relationships. The OM reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the entire staff team.
Job Responsibilities
Office Management
- Act as the Association’s first positive impression by greeting, welcoming, and assisting visitors, volunteers and members.
- Manage the organization's general communication; respond quickly and professionally.
- Assist with managing IT resources, including ensuring that equipment is functioning properly and replaced as needed, and communicating with external IT team as needed
- Manage IRWA’s office spaces, including contract and vendor management, and ensuring that supplies are stocked any office needs are addressed
- Prepare and submit required business-compliance forms and reports.
- Pay bills and process invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist with developing and implementing systems and processes across operational areas to increase efficiency.
Property Management
- Collaborate with the full staff team to ensure that the visitor experience at Riverbend is positive, engaging, and supports our Mission.
- Coordinate groups of volunteers who support property maintenance and function.
Staff Support
- Liaise with employee health and benefits agents and providers.
- Plan staff outings and professional development opportunities throughout the year, with the support of the Executive Director.
- Support the Development and Engagement, Resiliency, and Restoration teams as needed. For example, administrative and logistical support for community events
Qualifications
Successful candidates will possess a strong personal commitment to the work of Ipswich River Watershed Association and a desire to work in a small, highly collaborative, dynamic team environment with colleagues who share a passion for environmental stewardship. Candidates should demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and a creative approach to problem solving. The ideal candidate has:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and the Google suite
- Exceptional attention to detail
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- The ability to self-direct and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- The ability to effectively prioritize time and responsibilities
Additional skills and experience that would be beneficial include:
- Experience with Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) databases, particularly Little Green Light.
- Experience with non-profit administration, including experience with Paychex and benefits management software.
- Experience working in a small team environment.
- Project management experience, especially around systems or operations improvements

Hours, Compensation, and Benefits
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position located at our Riverbend headquarters in Ipswich MA. Occasional remote work is possible but generally this is an in-person position. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required but overtime work will not be expected.
Compensation: Salary for this position is $60,000 - $65,000 annually. This is a non-exempt position and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable laws. Starting pay will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
