Location: St. Paul, MN with options for remote or hybrid work

Reports To: Talent and Strategic Engagement Manager

Salary: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (typical)

Position Summary: The Outreach and Engagement Coordinator supports the organization’s external engagement efforts, including recruitment, outreach, communications, and development. This position collaborates with CCMI’s Talent and Engagement team to successfully recruit and engage a diverse pool of youth and young adults for program opportunities with CCMI through recruitment planning, outreach activities, and applicant screening. In addition, this position provides support to CCMI’s communications and development team to increase public visibility and support through community engagement, events, and communications.

Relationships: The Outreach and Engagement Coordinator reports directly to the Talent and Strategic Engagement Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Outreach

  • Represent CCMI at public events, job and career fairs, conferences, and community meetings to promote the CCMI programs and recruit program participants.
  • Support and maintain relationships with colleges, universities, and community organizations to strengthen recruitment pipelines and expand awareness of CCMI opportunities.
  • Assist in diversifying applicant sources through a variety of channels including websites, job boards, networking, community partnerships, social media, and other external platforms.
  • Manage job and position postings on external websites and recruitment platforms.
  • Collaborate with and support hiring managers by assisting with drafting position descriptions, screening applicants, and hiring/onboarding processes.
  • Serve as lead staff for organizational application tracking system, Paycom, including building and monitoring job requisitions, applications, and applicant communication process.
  • Provide timely communication and accurate messaging to applicants and prospective members, ensuring a positive applicant experience, including facilitating information sessions for prospective members.
  • Track recruitment efforts and use data to evaluate, suggest, and track improvements.

Communications and Engagement

  • Proactively seek opportunities to expand CCMI’s presence in the community, specifically focusing on identifying and building new connections.
  • Build connections with current program participants/members and program alum by maintaining updated contact information and identifying opportunities for alums to engage with CCMI post-service.
  • Assist with drafting and sending email communications through Mailchimp, including the monthly member newsletter and recruitment updates about open positions and application deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to curate and create content for use on social media, website/blog, and newsletters, increasing visibility of CCMI’s mission and impact with various audiences.
  • Coordinate and provide support for organizational events, including community and outreach events, alumni events, and fundraising events to foster continued connection to CCMI’s mission and community.
  • Facilitate CCMI engagement at the MN State Fair, including organizing schedules, securing giveaway items, booth set-up/ tear-down, and all logistics related to recruitment and coordination of booth volunteers.
  • Manage inventory of CCMI branded swag items and act as point of contact for ordering.
  • Provide administrative support to the communications and development teams, including organizational mailings, donor acknowledgements, and other communications as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years professional work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Outgoing, self-starter, comfortable with speaking on behalf of and representing CCMI with external audiences.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with, interact with, and communicate with individuals coming from diverse backgrounds and communities.
  • Willingness to travel regionally to participate in outreach activities, job fairs, CCMI events, and partner meetings. Valid driver’s license required with at least 3 years of clean driving record.
  • Familiarity/experience with AmeriCorps or other national service programs a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Salesforce, web-based recruitment tools, applicant tracking and/or CRM software systems.

Other Information: 

Some evening and weekend work, as well as overnight travel, may be required to attend recruitment and outreach events, job fairs, member orientation, partner meetings, and other CCMI events.
