Salary Range: Grade 17 (Steps 1-12) $84,630 - $115,401/annual salary

The Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District (CSWCD) is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and community-minded individual to serve as our newly established Outreach & Communications Coordinator, leading and strengthening the District's public engagement and communications efforts. This position offers a unique opportunity to connect people with the conservation of soil, water, and related natural resources by developing compelling communications, marketing strategies, and fostering meaningful partnerships to expand awareness of the District's mission, programs, and impact throughout Clackamas County.

This position focuses primarily on implementing strategic communication initiatives that increase public awareness, understanding, and participation in the District's conservation programs. The incumbent will lead the District's communications program, including the website, social media platforms, digital and print publications, newsletters, photography, media relations, marketing campaigns, and other digital communication initiatives.

A key focus of this position is expanding the District's reach by engaging both traditional and new audiences, building relationships with diverse communities, and promoting the District as a trusted resource for conservation education and stewardship.

Working collaboratively with District staff, the Board of Directors, community partners, and volunteers, the Coordinator develops and promotes the District's Conservation Resource Center, demonstration farm, and Community Forest as destinations for conservation education, volunteerism, and hands-on learning.

The Coordinator monitors emerging communication trends, evaluates outreach effectiveness through performance metrics and analytics, and continually refines communication strategies to strengthen public engagement, enhance organizational visibility, and support the District's long-term conservation goals.

Successful applicants will demonstrate:

• Skills in the development of communications and marketing plans.
• Skills in graphic design, photography, videography, and website management.
• Knowledge of interpretative planning and ability to implement projects such as signage, exhibits, educational materials, and displays.
• Ability to measure and report on communication and marketing outcomes using websites, social media, email, and event analytics.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (ADA), plain language principles, and applicable public records requirements.
• Willingness to collaborate and integrate work within a team.
• Ability to provide superior customer service to the public, landowners, partners, and CSWCD staff.

To qualify for this position, you must have a four-year degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field OR four years of equivalent transferable skills in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field that demonstrates attainment of the core competencies for the position.

Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District is a regional leader in conserving natural resources in Oregon and offers a competitive wage schedule and an excellent benefits package. Full-time District employees become eligible for the District’s health benefits package beginning the first full 30 days of a month beyond the start date with the District.  The District currently contributes 90% of the cost of the employee’s medical, dental, and vision insurance.  The District covers the full cost of a life insurance policy of $10,000 face value and participation in an Employee Assistance Program.  Eligibility for the District’s deferred compensation (457b) retirement plan begins following the satisfactory completion of a six-month Introductory Period

The office is in the Hamlet of Beavercreek, Oregon. Beavercreek is just five miles south of Oregon City, the county seat of Clackamas County, an area rich in history as the End of the Oregon Trail and the state’s original capital. Located near the southern limits of metropolitan Portland, the area supports a wide diversity of high-quality outdoor recreation opportunities; top-rated dining and shopping; as well as the hub of world class craft-breweries and wineries.

The District resides in a newly constructed state-of-the-art Conservation Resource Center. The 10,851 square foot facility supports the District, NRCS, and FSA staff and is located on a beautiful 15-acre farm that is planned to be utilized as a demonstration site for conservation practices.
