Outreach and Supplies Coordinator

ACE is seeking an Outreach and Supplies Coordinator for its brand new Conservation Corps branch based out of Corpus Christi, Texas. As the ACE Texas branch continues to grow, the Outreach and Supplies Coordinator will be essential in ensuring the success of the program through recruiting, managing, and mentoring local young adults and emerging conservationists from the Corpus Christi area while also building and fostering community partnerships throughout the Gulf region of Texas.

The ACE Texas branch opened in October 2017 and the conservation crews successfully restored over 1,000 acres of coastal and riparian habitat in partnership with US Fish and Wildlife Service, Texas State Parks and Wildlife, and local communities. This non-residential branch is unique to ACE’s general Conservation Corps model, where local young adults are recruited to perform a wide array of riparian and coastal restoration activities throughout Texas.

Since the branch has been successful and continues to grow, ACE Texas is in need of hiring a highly-motivated and dedicated young professional to serve as its first-ever Outreach and Supplies Coordinator to recruit, manage, and mentor the next generation of conservationists and environmental stewards.

Required Duties and Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Member Management:

  • Recruit and support ACE Texas Corps Members with a strong emphasis on building local partnerships to significantly increase local participation.
  • Lead ACE Texas public outreach and engagement strategies, efforts, and events.
  • Build and develop partnerships with organizations and entities throughout the local community.
  • Conduct interviews with Corps Member applicants while developing a standard recruitment protocol and screening candidates from all backgrounds.
  • Administer and allocate slots for numerous ACE - AmeriCorps grants.
  • Maintain strong communication between ACE staff and all incoming and current Members.
  • Lead and organize new member orientations and trainings.
  • Conduct mid and end of term evaluations for all ACE Texas AmeriCorps Members.
  • Manage Corps Member information in ACE's internal database.
  • Respond to emergencies and organizing medical care for sick or injured Members (including after hours).
  • Engage and support Members during their off-days in Corpus Christi.
  • Assist ACE staff to mentor and develop Corps Members into stewardship and leadership roles.
  • Ensure AmeriCorps compliance and perform AmeriCorps administration duties.

Provisions and Supplies Coordination:

  • Use ACE’s meal database or your own knowledge to prepare meal plans and ingredient lists for ACE field crews.
  • Be aware of and comfortable with planning alternative meals for individuals with various dietary restrictions.
  • Purchase food with the budget parameters seeking the highest value for each expenditure.
  • Organize food into dry food bins and cooler assigned to each crew for Crew Leader to pick up ahead of crew departures.
  • Manage safe, OSHA compliant storage protocols of perishable and non-perishable food.
  • Track local sales and stockpile items in bulk where applicable.
  • Maintain an inventory of camp supplies and purchase new items as needed.

The ideal candidate will possess a unique combination of attributes, including (but not limited to) strong skills in leadership, interpersonal communication, public speaking, organization, management, conflict resolution, and motivating others. The ideal candidate will have an established passion in recruiting, supporting and developing the next generation of environmental stewards and leaders. Past experience in manual labor while working and camping through adverse weather conditions in the outdoors is preferred.

Candidates should be flexible, adaptable, and enthusiastic while working in a fast-paced, fluid, and office working environment. The Outreach and Supplies Coordinator must be willing to represent ACE in a safe, professional, positive, and enthusiastic manner.

Applicants must have previous experience working in a team setting with young adults and should have leadership experience in conservation and/or natural resource management. Applicants will also ideally have past experience working with AmeriCorps in either a Corps Member or Staff capacity. Leadership ability, forward-thinking, and flexibility is an asset in this position. The candidate should be open to growth and increased responsibility over time as the ACE-Texas program continues to evolve. Self-initiative is key in maintaining structure to the multi-faceted and demanding workflow of this position, while sustaining a constant outward vision towards future growth.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possess a valid driver's license, a clean driving record and willingness to submit to background checks.
  • Computer skills including intermediate knowledge of Excel, fluency in social media, and professional email etiquette is required.
  • Willingness to travel, work occasional weekends and attend community events.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity and experience with hands-on, community engagement and local recruitment strategies
  • Experience working with AmeriCorps programs, specifically Conservation Corps

Education Requirements:  

  • A BA/BS degree (or higher) is preferred.


The selected candidate will receive $15.00 per hour for the first six months as during that time they will be working on a probationary status. Full benefits begin after six months, two weeks paid annual vacation, and sick leave. The selected candidate will become eligible for health and dental insurance after 90 days.
