General Description: Delaware Nature Society currently has an opening for a full-time Outreach Coordinator to join our Advocacy team. A private, non-profit membership organization, Delaware Nature Society’s mission is to connect people with the natural world and improve our environment through education, advocacy and conservation. The Coordinator will be responsible for creating innovative educational, community-focused programs that meet the needs of Delaware Nature Society’s focus on clean water initiatives. The successful candidate will be creative and collaborative and have a real vision for authentic and engaging learning experiences that allow individuals, businesses, and community leaders to experience the natural world around them in the hopes they will advocate for an improved environment.

Responsibilities: The Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers in order to engage constituents in our work. Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Collaborating cross-departmentally to create meaningful engagement opportunities that generate public support for environmental issues;
  • Developing and participating in outreach tactics such as tabling, presentations, trainings, canvasses and community events such as town hall meetings;
  • Recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers who will participate in promoting environmental improvement;
  • In partnership with communication teams, creating communication content for internal and external use, supporting regional and organizational communication integration (factsheets, reports, social media content, etc.);
  • Supporting evaluation measures and reporting requirements by collecting and analyzing indicators, and organizing data collected to track ladders of engagement;
  • Helping to update and maintain organizational email lists and member database.

Qualifications: Applicants for this position should bring the following knowledge, abilities, and attitude:

  • An undergraduate degree in environmental studies/science, education, social science or related field is preferred;
  • Knowledge of and commitment to environmental causes;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including comfort meeting and talking with new people;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work, and meet deadlines;
  • Excited to learn or have experience with using data to set goals and measure progress;
  • Versatile in wearing multiple hats and self-motivated to identify priorities and complete work without being micro-managed;
  • Comfortable with technology, and can learn new tools quickly;
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends;
  • Licensed driver with access to a vehicle;
  • Positive attitude, collaborative spirit, sense of humor;
  • Strong ties to Delaware is preferred.
