Works with visitor services to gain experience in the operations of a safe, welcoming, and well balanced visitor services program. This position is stationed in Newport, OR.
- Provide informal interpretation for visitors on the seabirds and marine mammals of Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge at multiple locations
- Assist with communication, outreach, and marketing for wildlife refuges through a variety of media
- Work alongside refuge volunteers and staff on habitat restoration
- Help protect wildlife and ensure visitor safety
- Assist with trail maintenance
Requirements:
- B.Sc. preferred or some undergrad coursework in biology, natural resources, park management, or related field required
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident under age 31
- Valid state driver's license
- Must be able to work independently and in groups
- Must have good observational and communication skills
- Schedule flexibility, including weekend, holidays, and morning/evening shifts
