Why does the job exist?
This position is assigned to Brantley Lake State Park. This position is primarily responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all of facilities and the water system at the park, for the safety and convenience of park visitors. Under supervision, this position is dedicated towards ensuring all buildings, structures, plumbing, HVAC, and equipment are operating and safe at all times. This position will also assist with general maintenance of boating facilities and operate and maintain vehicles and equipment. This position will perform administrative duties necessary for this position, as well as those required to meet the needs of the park, including collection and verification of revenues due to the state.
How does it get done?
Maintaining park facilities and equipment up to Division standards with limited financial and staff resources. This requires the ability to recognize items that need attention, prioritize these needs, and allocate the available resources needed, while conserving these resources for the other items that need attention. The incumbent in this position must have knowledge and experience in general construction, facilities and equipment maintenance, time management, staff management, good communication skills and the ability to multi-task. The incumbent in this position requires the ability to communicate with the general public in order to gain public compliance with state park rules and policies for the safety and enjoyment of others, as well as the preservation of the park's natural and cultural resources.
Ideal Candidate
High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in parks, monuments, museums, interpretive/educational ranger, field archaeologist, or ruins preservationist at a historic site.
Experience with maintenance and landscaping of waterfront areas and campgrounds preferred. Ideal candidate needs to have a general understanding of boating and New Mexico boating laws. At least a year of direct customer service experience and public contact preferred. General maintenance experience; general building and facilities, landscaping, and equipment operation knowledge preferred.
Minimum Qualification
High school diploma or equivalent.
