About the Role
We’re looking for a part-time field-based Logistics Coordinator (contractor role) to be a part of a small team to support our conservation research across national forests across the Pacific North West. This is an exciting, explorative position designed for someone who loves logistics, thrives in the outdoors, and wants to contribute meaningfully to wildlife conservation.
You’ll play a vital part of keeping our Pacific Northwest Biodiversity project running smoothly by assisting volunteers with the equipment they need and managing the pick-up and return of audio recording devices.
This role involves meeting volunteers before and after their adventures, traveling to iconic forest locations to drop off and retrieve the recording devices, and providing hands-on support on the ground.
If you enjoy meeting new people and want your time outdoors to contribute to scientific research, this role could be a great fit!
Responsibilities
- Manage the collection and delivery of audio recording devices between designated hubs, volunteers, and pre-arranged remote locations.
- Make yourself reasonably available on a recurring weekly basis for volunteer handoffs, at times and locations you determine in coordination with volunteer needs.
- Maintain organization and tracking of equipment, ensure secure storage of equipment between uses and execute accurate handoffs and returns.
- Schedule and communicate with volunteers by phone, email, and text.
- Provide regular updates on equipment status and completed activities to support project tracking.
- Support volunteer meetups or events in coordination with the project team

Extra Awesome Qualities
- Experience with field logistics, transportation, or gear management.
- Comfort traveling solo in outdoor settings.
- Familiarity with local national forest terrain.

Compensation
- $25 per hour
- Contract duration is April to September 2026
During the first two months of the contract, the Logistics Coordinator should aim to work approximately 20 hours per month as project activity begins to ramp up.
As the summer field season progresses and volunteer participation increases (May – July), monthly hours may to rise to approximately 40–50 hours per month. During this period, you may need to travel greater distances, host additional office hours, and access more remote hex locations to support ongoing project operations.
- Hours fluctuate depending on volunteer activity and field schedules.
This role is ideal for someone who:
- Values flexibility and seasonal intensity.
- May already work in outdoor, seasonal, or contract-based roles.
- Is excited about meaningful conservation work and understands that this is project-based, mission-driven field support.
We offer non-negotiable compensation to ensure fairness, transparency, and equity for everyone in the hiring process. This approach allows us to uphold our commitment to pay consistency, eliminate bias in the hiring process, and create a culture of trust and clarity for all team members.
