Schoodic Institute at Acadia National Park’s mission is inspiring science, learning, and community for a changing world. As Acadia National Park’s primary nonprofit partner in science and education, the Institute works to understand environmental change, support conservation decision-making, engage learners of all ages, and create pathways for future leaders in science, communication, and stewardship.

The Institute seeks a dynamic and mission-driven executive who combines strategic leadership, a solid background in science and/or education, relationship-building skills, fundraising expertise, and organizational management experience. The next President & CEO will bring a passionate commitment to science, education, lifelong learning, and public engagement, as well as respect for Indigenous partnerships and diverse perspectives. Strategic and Organizational Leadership: The President & CEO will provide vision, strategic direction, and overall organizational leadership while overseeing financial management, science and education initiatives, and campus operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience leading teams, managing change, overseeing budgets and operations, and translating vision into results. This leader will mentor and empower a high-performing senior management team while promoting an inclusive and collaborative organizational culture.

Partnership and Relationship Building: The next President & CEO will bring people together, articulate a compelling vision, and cultivate complex strategic partnerships across public agencies, nonprofit organizations, and communities. This leader will have opportunities to deepen the Institute’s relationships with the National Park Service and Friends of Acadia, strengthen connections with the Wabanaki Nations, academic institutions, and regional conservation networks, and advance the Institute’s regional and national reputation.

Fundraising and External Leadership: As a leading ambassador for Schoodic Institute, the President & CEO will be an inspiring communicator and authentic storyteller. The ideal candidate will demonstrate success cultivating and stewarding major donors, securing foundation or institutional support, and developing government-funded partnerships. This leader will think strategically about diversifying revenue streams and supporting the Institute’s long-term financial sustainability.
