Organization Overview
Hunt Hill Nature Center (HHNC) is a private, nonprofit environmental education organization dedicated to fostering understanding, appreciation, and protection of the natural world. Through hands-on learning and community engagement, HHNC serves youth, adults, and families while protecting 598 acres of Wisconsin lands and waters.
Position Summary
The Program Coordinator is a mission-critical role responsible for the planning, promotion, coordination, and evaluation of Hunt Hill’s public programs. Working closely with the Executive Director and Program Committee, this position supports strategic program growth, supervises seasonal staff, and ensures high-quality, accessible programming for the community.
This role is ideal for a nonprofit professional who is organized, people-centered, creative, and passionate about environmental education.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate all public programs, including scheduling, logistics, promotions, registration, and communication
- Promote programs through social media, website updates, print and digital materials, and community outreach
- Serve as primary point of contact for presenters and participants
- Actively participate in programs to ensure quality delivery and positive participant experiences
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise seasonal summer staff
- Develop program budgets, monitor expenses, and support program sustainability
- Collect and evaluate participant feedback to inform program growth and improvement
- Collaborate as a Cooperating Camp Team Member, supporting overall camp operations as needed
- Maintain and safeguard program materials and supplies
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience (5+ years) in education, nonprofit management, marketing, hospitality, event planning, natural sciences, or related fields
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience coordinating and promoting programs or events
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- Experience supervising staff or volunteers
- Proficiency with social media, digital marketing tools, WordPress, and basic design platforms (e.g., Canva)
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Comfort working outdoors and performing physical tasks in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license and legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Experience working at summer camp is a plus.
- Lifeguarding, or willingness to become lifeguard certified is preferred, but not required.
