Property Caretaker, Lake Constance Corporation
Hunting & fishing club in northeast PA seeks long-term property caretaker. The property consists of 2,400 acres of forests, hillsides, streams, trails, roads, 12 private homes, several community buildings and a 60-acre lake. Reporting to the club’s President, the caretaker’s full-time duties include assuring security of the property’s grounds and buildings, cutting firewood, clearing debris from culverts and drainage channels, performing repairs to buildings and foot bridges, clearing brush from trails and roads, maintaining road surfaces, operating snowplow, mowing equipment and other machinery, maintaining equipment, inspecting the properties and grounds for potential damage or deterioration, and assisting club members when requested. The duties are sometimes physically challenging and labor-intensive, with about 90% of the work performed outdoors.
Compensation includes a salary of approx $30k-45K, a rent-free caretaker’s home (caretaker must live onsite), health insurance, retirement contribution, reimbursement for telephone and electricity, flexible full-time schedule and paid time off.
Required qualifications include integrity and reliability; willingness to perform strenuous duties outdoors in variable weather conditions; a service-oriented disposition reflecting courtesy and guest relations; ongoing safety consciousness; experience in operating and repairing heavy machinery such as tractors, mowers, splitters, and chainsaws; basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems; problem-solving skills and adaptability; and ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
