This position provides practical technical support related to the scientific management of noxious weed populations in rangeland environments. 

Incumbent is responsible for leading and performing a wide variety of operational projects related to the support of weed and invasive species management projects and programs.

Responsible for various on the ground weed control projects, providing public contact, and reporting/documenting functions.

Initiate preventive activities to quickly and efficiently control small weed infestations and develop new methods and practices to treat specific types of infestations.

Physical Demands: The work requires some physical exertion, such as regular and recurring running, walking, or bending; walking or climbing over rocky areas, through dense vegetation, and in mountainous terrain. The incumbent must be in good physical condition, be able to lift heavy objects, and perform strenuous physical activity for prolonged periods of time. The incumbent may be required to carry up to 45 pounds on his/her back over uneven terrain.

Work Environment: Office work is performed in adequately lighted, heated, and air conditioned offices. Much of the time is spent in the field where exposure to extremes of heat and cold, rough terrain, insects, snakes, and other hazards are common. The employee will carefully adhere to all safety policies and procedures to mitigate hazards encountered.
