VESTRA Resources Inc. is seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual to join our environmental services team. We are looking for a well-organized, fast-paced, problem solver. This is a full-time, 40 hours/ week, benefited position. This position may require occasional overtime and weekend hours. This is not a remote position; this position will report to our office location in Redding, CA with some travel required for field assignments.
Primary duties include preparation of NEPA or CEQA documents, environmental regulatory compliance documents and technical reports, and environmental permit applications; as well as planning and implementation of biological field work in support of projects, conducting biological habitat evaluations, surveys and studies for special-status plans and/or animals, and construction biological monitoring.
Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. with a major in Biology, Wildlife, Botany, Fisheries or related discipline required.
- Two (2) to five (5) years’ experience in related field required.
- Excellent written communication skills, ability to interact with clients, and good people skills required.
- Good organizational skills, ability to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging work environment; excellent at problem solving, and ability to think outside of the box is required.
- Past experience should include biological field data collection, technical reporting, and statistical technique, use of identification keys, orienteering with topographic maps and aerial photos, ability to locate positions and plot locations in difficult steep terrain, familiarity with global positioning systems (GPS) electronic data recorders, iPad, or similar, basic use of ArcGIS, and reporting.
- Experience with wildlife surveys including but not limited to Northern Spotted Owls, Goshawks, etc. preferred.
- Experience with botany surveys preferred.
- An understanding of permitting and project processes is required. Knowledge of Federal and State of California laws and regulations (NEPA, CEQA, ESA, CESA, and CWA) is preferred.
- Ability to work in a group as well as independently.
- Must be physically and mentally capable of working in a wide range of physical and environmental conditions (off trail rugged hiking, camping, remote locations). This position may include individual/solo field assignments, and there will be potential for overnight camping in remote locations.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move approximately 50 lbs., work in the field, operate a 4x4 truck and ATV, and operate and calibrate field measurement equipment.
- Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States without sponsorship. VESTRA will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

The wage for this type of position is $28.85/hour - $48.08/hour (equivalent to $60,000 - $100,000 per year) and will be assigned based on the level of experience applicable to the position. Position classification and pay may be higher based upon applicable experience beyond 5 years, graduate and post graduate studies, or professional licensing.
