Description:
The Environmental Institute of Houston at the University of Houston–Clear Lake is seeking a research associate to conduct environmental and biological research. The position assists with project design, field data collection, data entry and analysis, report preparation, and dissemination of results. Duties include maintaining and operating sampling equipment, handling research vessels, leading small teams of research staff and students, and using specialized data management, processing, and analysis programs. 

 *Note: This is a grant funded position. Continuation of the position is dependent upon future funding.

Duties:

  • Collect environmental and biological data associated with various projects.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and operate field and laboratory environmental and biological data collection instruments and equipment including vessels and vehicles.
  • Lead small teams of research staff and students in the collection of environmental and biological data collection.
  • Participate in and oversee data entry, quality control, and basic analysis of data and report compilation and perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Marine Biology, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a full-time position conducting environmental/biological research. (Experience gained through academic programs is applicable.)
  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred 

  • Master's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Marine Biology, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience working in a full-time position conducting environmental/biological research.
