Catalina Environmental Leadership Program Residential Camp Homeschool Instructor

CELP is an environmental education program for students in 4th-12th grade. Our location on the remote west end of Catalina Island allows us to teach lessons on ecology and sustainability while snorkeling in the kelp forest, kayaking, hiking, teambuilding and gardening. CELP is a partnership between Catalina Island Camps and Jean Michel Cousteau's Ocean Future's Society.

We are looking for qualified staff to homeschool two children, ages 8 and 11, who live on site. Mornings are generally spent working through their coursework; afternoons spent on excursions around the island and participating in camp activities.  This is a full time position and requires living on site.

The successful applicant will love working with children and be drawn to living and working in remote locations.  The island provides great opportunities for hiking, snorkeling, small boating, biking, trail running, etc.  The homeschool instructor is fully integrated into our community of experienced instructors and outdoor enthusiasts.  For someone interested in working in outdoor environmental education programs this job can be a great way to build experience.
