About Beyond Toxics:

Beyond Toxics is a statewide environmental justice nonprofit dedicated to fostering a community-driven movement for clean air, safe water, and healthy, resilient communities. Committed to principles of equity, collaboration, and centering frontline communities in environmental policy, we operate statewide to hold polluters accountable, promote innovative climate justice initiatives, enhance public health protections, and support communities most impacted by environmental challenges.

Description:

The Resilience Intern will collaborate with the Beyond Toxics Community Organizer to support our community garden initiatives and pollinator habitat programs. The intern will assist the Community Organizer with community engagement efforts at Resilience Markets. Additionally, the intern will provide support in event planning, scheduling, and outreach activities. The role will also include light gardening and maintenance responsibilities to ensure the optimal upkeep of gardening spaces.

Internship Details:

• Anticipated Start Date: August 3, 2026 
• Anticipated End Date: October 30, 2026
• Anticipated Schedule:
• Mondays: 9 a.m - 11 a.m. 
• Wednesdays: 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. 
• Bi-weekly Fridays: 12 p.m. - 2 p.m.
• Bi-weekly Saturdays: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting with outreach and communications for Resilience/Pollinator programming.
• Supporting setup and breakdown of bi-weekly Resilience Markets.
• Provide occasional administrative support with surveys and participant tracking.
• Assist with ordering and delivery of Resilience Market produce and supplies.
• Help with facilitation of weekly work parties.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must have reliable transportation.
• One of the following:
• Experience to work with diverse communities
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, exercise initiative and stay organized. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
• Interest in environmental and climate justice issues. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• English/Spanish bilingual
• Experience with media, communications, or creative outreach (social media campaigns, video, photography, spoken word, storytelling). 
• Familiarity with program coordination, workshop facilitation, or grassroots advocacy.
