POSITION DUTIES: Responsible for land acquisition and conservation, and recreation and open space management planning. Leads open space land acquisition processes, including due diligence and tracking. Collaborates with other land management and non-profit partners to preserve and enhance County Open Space and Trails facilities. Identifies, implements, and monitors projects associated with natural resource and recreation management of Summit County properties and trails. Assists with grant writing and administration, management plan drafting, review of land use proposals, GIS mapping, procuring and managing independent contractor agreements. Works to advance County Open Space protection and recreational goals. Involved in public outreach that includes drafting of press releases, social media posts, managing website content, and planning and leading public events.  This position is approximately 85% office work and 15% fieldwork.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in natural resource management, recreation or open space planning and administration, or a related field required. Three years of applicable work experience required. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skill as well as ability to problem solve and multi-task. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and agencies required. Must be a flexible and creative team player. Experience in property acquisition, project management, successful grant writing, leading collaborative planning processes, and GIS skills are strongly preferred. Familiarity with local trails and open space and a basic understanding of local government processes is preferred.
